Modern languages
FAll students following mainstream course work are prepared in the 9th year for the official certificate examinations in accordance with the levels determined by of the Council of Europe:
- English: PET and First Certificate of English and the Advanced Certificate from the University of Cambridge
- German: the Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) or Zentrale Mittelstuffenprüfung (ZMP) from the Goethe Institut.
- Italian: the Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana, Livello 2 (CELI 2) and Livello 3 (CELI 3), or the Livello 4 (CELI 4) or even the Livello 5 (CELI 5) from the Universita per Stranieri de Perugia.
- Spanish: the Diploma de Español (Nivel Inicial and Nivel Intermedio) from Instituto Cervantes.
All preparations necessitates a strong commitment on behalf of the students and their professors. The motivation for accomplishment is strong for every one! It is also in this light that Collège Champittet introduces English as of nursery school.
At Champittet French is the primary language. English is introduced progressively from nursery school onwards; mastery of the first language is the priority, gradually adding subjects and compulsory bilingual studies from
grade 2P – 6S. It is optional as of year 7.
Tutorials are organized for new students who have no prior language experience.
