Charter
Collège Champittet is a Catholic institution for pre-school, primary and secondary education.
Collège Champittet’s fundamental mission, in accordance with the Spirit of the Gospel, is to help, guide and be of service to the young people who have been entrusted to our care. And therefore, the students’ well being is, and always will be, the main criterion for choices and decisions.
The Collège’s distinguishing characteristic consists in uniting three different objectives in a single goal:
- acquisition of knowledge,
- personal development,
- spiritual instruction.
Both the Direction and teaching staff believe that intellectual development and the fulfilment of human spirit must include the following:
- An appreciation of past cultural treasures which provide education with roots and depth.
- A bold and perceptive outlook on today’s world in order to promote new forms of cultural expression and to help young people benefit fully from their childhood and teenage years.
- A particular and benevolent attention is given to the introduction of new pedagogies in education undertaken in Switzerland and abroad.
- The maintenance of an active and healthy lifestyle.
Consequently resulting in:
- The pursuit and the love of spiritual and moral values,
- Relationships with others based on trust and faithfulness,
- A sense of discipline,
- Steadfastness in effort, considered the foundation for progress and success.
An education aimed at the development of the whole student: personally, spiritually and academically, implies making them aware of religious issues through appropriate instruction, integrating faith and cultural awareness.
Such instruction must prepare young people to provide answers to the questions they ask at every stage of their lives. It should also enable them to discern between contemporary cultural trends and the values and behaviour which are in line with the spirit of Christianity.
As a Catholic institution, Collège Champittet endeavours to help its students – regardless of their religious orientation, origin or social status – to recognize and appreciate the challenges and aspirations of the men of our times in order to promote a better world.
These fundamental truths require the school to remain a community based on:
- The teachers’ abilities, as well as their spirit of service and their resourcefulness.
- The students’ active participation in their own education.
- The parents’ diligent collaboration.
Collège Champittet will accomplish this mission with God’s help and the dynamic collaboration of each member.
