A long tradition...


"Collège Champittet, an outstanding heritage..."

1903
Dominican Fathers coming from France found the College on the current site.

1951
Canons of the Grand Saint-Bernard continue the tradition. The quality of teaching and the intensity of spiritual life quickly draw 600 students, of whom many are boarding students.

1960
Extension of the infrastructures, and the construction of a new school building.

1984
Collège Champittet becomes coeducational.

1998
Collège Champittet is left in the care of experienced educators, who are committed to maintaining its heritage.
The “Juniors” section is created.

1999
Creation of a French Baccalaureate section, reinforcing curriculum choices which were previously exclusive to the Swiss Maturité.

2003
Establishment of two nursery schools at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and at the University of Lausanne.

2004
Opening of a new campus in Nyon, 20 kilometres from Geneva. Including the new campus, a total of 800 students start this academic year at Collège Champittet.

2005
Opening of a kindergarten in Lausanne for children aged 18 to 36 months.

2006
French-English bilingual education is introduced with the objective to better prepare students for advanced studies and enabling them to enter a highly globalised professional and economic world.
One thousand students start the new academic year.

2008
In Spring 2008, Collège Champittet applies for the authorization to include the International Baccalaureate Diploma’s programme in its curriculum.

2009
As of September 2009, the bilingual International Baccalaureate diploma program will be added to the existing choices which include the Swiss Maturité, bilingual Maturité and French Baccalaureate Diploma.
